Crossley Heath School truly personalises technology for students with Frog
Crossley Heath School, a mixed secondary school in Halifax is keen to provide a world-class education whereby individual student’s personal development and wellbeing are put at the heart of planning.
With student voice high on the agenda, the school has assigned a team of students to design the school’s digital environment. The result - a highly successful solution tailored specifically to the school’s needs.
Until recently, the school faced three main challenges for eLearning; an absence of control measurements of students’ use of the internet and discussion forums; students being unable to access folders or learning resources from home and a school website which wasn’t regularly updated due to administration staff without the technical ability required. Further to in-depth research into virtual learning environments and trialling several off-the-shelf solutions, the school has implemented the Frog VLE which enables both the staff and students to easily access teaching and learning resources and can be tailored to the specific needs and culture of the school.

Having purchased and implemented the digital environment for the students, the school felt that the students should have more involvement in it. From listening to the students’ advice, it was agreed that the VLE pages should be updated with guidance from students themselves. A team was formed of editors, developers, graphic designers, promoters and reporters enabling the new student VLE team to build an interactive student portal with a blog and forum. In addition to making a student council website, the school also created an online magazine which was made simple with Frog’s easy to use page builder. Very quickly, a new student portal emerged.
